Instructions for Poster Presenters at the 15th Annual
Conference of the European Association for Dental Public
Health (EADPH) from 9 – 11 September 2010 in Constanta,
Romania
Dear Poster Presenter,
Please read carefully these instructions for the
preparation and presentation of posters at the 15th EADPH
conference in Constanta. There is a modified procedure this
year in so far that you will need to prepare 2 overhead
transparencies.
Technical Information for Posters:
Maximum height of the poster: 115 cm. Maximum width of the
poster: 90 cm
Further details:
Posters should be made from paper or thin cardboard. Heavy
poster materials may be difficult to keep in position on
the poster panel. Please indicate the number of your poster
in the upper left corner of your poster. It is also
recommended that you place a photo of the presenter in the
upper right corner of poster. Bonding tapes to fix the
posters will be provided on site by the congress organizer.
Poster Mounting
Material for mounting is available in the poster area.
Assistance will be present. Poster presenters are advised
to provide handouts for interested colleagues.
There is sufficient time and room for all posters to be
displayed during the whole conference. The mounting time is
on Thursday, 9 September 2010 between 12.00 and 13.00. The
opening ceremony will start at 13.00 on the same day. The
dismounting time is on Saturday, 11 September 2010 between
11.00 and 14.00. The closing ceremony is scheduled to take
place between 12.00 and 12.30.
Poster Viewing
In the last 2 days of the conference there will be one
poster session as indicated in the Scientific Programme. At
the beginning of each poster session there will be a
viewing time (30 minutes approximately) during which the
presenter has to stand in front of/next to his/her poster.
Poster Discussions
After the viewing, a chaired poster discussion will take
place in the lecture hall, as no more than 25-30 persons
can follow a chaired discussion in the poster room. For
each presentation 7 minutes are available: 2 minutes for
presentation of the main results and 5 minutes for
discussion. This procedure was used for the EADPH
conference in Heidelberg 2008 and was appreciated by many
of the participants. As mentioned earlier, prior to the
conference, poster presenters have to prepare 2 overhead
transparencies to present the main aims and
materials/methods (overhead transparency 1) and results and
conclusions (overhead transparency 2). Please do not copy
your whole poster on these transparencies because no one
will be able to read this in the lecture hall. It is very
important to choose the size of letters and numbers big
enough (18 point font or larger) so that they are easily
readable even in the back of the auditorium! The aim of the
short presentation is to remind the audience of the purpose
and main conclusions of the posters, not to present the
whole piece of work. So you are advised to make the message
on the overheads as simple as possible.
