Participants of the 2010 EADPH conference in Constanta are asked to join one of the 6 Special Interest Working Group Workshops. As the workshops will be running in parallel sessions, a maximum of 25 conference participants can join each working group. In course of the registration procedure for the conference, participants can choose 3 out of the 6 workshops. The congress organizer will give priority to those who attended the 2009 and 2010 workshop in Heidelberg and Tromsö resp. and take into account the first choice but a guarantee cannot be given that this option will be realized.
The aims of the Special Interest Working Groups are to:
Review and discuss the "current state of the art" in the topic or a part of the topic. Bring together people with an interest in the topic concerned. Identify work that needs to be done to improve the "current state of the art". Produce a position paper that sets out the "current state of the art" and future work that needs to be carried out to improve it. Plan how to develop collaborations to improve some of the identified deficiencies.
The topics for the workshops and their leaders are as follows:
- Prevention of Oral Cancer,
Chair: Professor Stefano Petti - Gerodontology,
Chairs: Professor Jackie Vanobbergen and Dr Luc Devisschere - Periodontal Epidemiology,
Chairs: Dr Roos Leroy and Professor Ken Eaton - Tooth Surface Loss/Erosion,
Chair: Professor Carolina Ganss - Caries Epidemiology and Prevention,
Chairs: Professor Nigel Pitts and Professor Klaus Pieper - Health Services Research,
Chair: Dr Rebecca Harris
Prior to the meeting in Constanta, the leaders of each workshop will send information papers based on the proceedings from the Heidelberg meeting 2008, the Tromsö meeting 2009 and the continuous work during the year. At the Constanta meeting position papers will be discussed and further work planned.
